Zigzag Guidelines

日本語版 →

Key guidelines for identifying and measuring zigzags: wave B retracement range, wave C target ratios, alternation in double zigzags.

Description

Zigzags follow several important guidelines that help with identification and price targeting. While not absolute rules, these tendencies hold most of the time and provide useful filters for wave count validation.

Key Points

  • Wave B retracement: typically 38.2%–79% of wave A (most commonly 50%–61.8%)
  • Wave C target: 61.8%, 100%, or 161.8% of wave A (measured from wave B end)
  • Wave A: subdivides into 5 waves (impulse or diagonal)
  • Wave C: subdivides into 5 waves (impulse or ending diagonal)
  • Wave B: subdivides into 3 waves (any corrective form: zigzag, flat, triangle, combination)
  • Double zigzag: wave Y (second zigzag) extends the price correction beyond the end of wave W (first zigzag)
